Abstract:
Inthemodelingofmachiningoperations,constitutivemodelsmustaccountformaterialbehaviorsubjectedtohighplasticstrains,strainrates,temperatures,andheatingrates.Carbonsteelsshowcomplexbehavior,andthusasufficientlycomplexconstitutivemodelisneededtocapturethisbehavior.Additionally,thecarboncontentinsteelslikeAISI1018,1045,and1075significantlyinfluencestheirstrengthandhardeningcharacteristics.Hence,wehaveenhancedarecentlydevelopedmaterialmodelforcarbonsteeltoincorporatetheinfluenceofcarboncontentonmaterialresponse.Thismodifiedmodeleffectivelycapturesthetime-dependentplasticbehaviorassociatedwithinterruptedaustenitetransformationduringshortheatingtimes,essentialforsimulatingmachiningoperations.
