Abstract:
The present diploma thesis deals with the design and the implementation of a self-sensing control algorithm for a one-dimensional magnetic bearing.
At the beginning, a detailed mathematical model of the magnetic bearing is derived and the properties of the system are analyzed for the case of a pulse-width modulated control. Based on the mathematical model, an estimation algorithm for the inductance of the magnetic bearing is introduced. The basic principle of this estimation algorithm relies on the dependency between the position and the inductance. Afterwards, the design of a cascaded position controller for the magnetic levitation system is briefly summarized. For an effective and appropriate real-time implementation of the estimation and control strategy on the test bench, the alogorithms are segmented into a fast and a slow part. The fast part is implemented on an FPGA and the slow part on a floating point processor.
Finally, the performance and the robustness of the proposed estimation and control strategy is demonstrated by means of simulation and measurement results on the test bench.
