Kressnik, D. (2013).

Rising competitive pressure urges companies to reduce costs simultaneously with the increase in quality demand. As a result enterprises need, in regarding the process-thought, to follow optimized ways, which are based on the three success-factors "costs, time and quality". Hence process optimizations can be found more frequently throughout the last years. An effective and systematic tool of process management is the 4-steps-method. This optimizing procedure includes the identification and demarcation of the evaluating process, the recording of the actual state, the conception of the desired condition and the implementation of the acquired target process. With the presentation of the methodological basis, an information base is created, to demonstrate a process optimization generic by reference to a paper roll transport of a printery. Especially an elapsed time, cost-reduction and higher process flexibility by constant quality is claimed. With the assistance of value stream mapping the value stream and its time- and stock consideration can be expanded on. By the means of a structured procedure, it can be shown, that an elapsed time of over 52%, a continuous roll supply, a cost saving and an ergonomic, as well as a safe, workplace design are possible. Next to the flexibility enhancement and the orientation on takt time, the productivity of the preparation cycle could be raised by 43%.
