Priewasser, I. (2011).
wide research on urban spatial practices, forms of appropriation, and alternative and informal tactics in the production of urban space serves as a resource for examining the characteristics and potential of self-organised and self-organising processes and their (bottom-up) influence on the formation, configuration and organisation of the city.
therefore "self-organised production of urban space" is construed as a phenomenon by reference to chaos theory, historical concepts and socio-cultural influences.
a glance on contemporary as well as evolutionary procedures and concepts in city planning helps establish the distinction between "planning" and "self-organisation".
the central focus lies on the question if formal urban planning strategies can be brought in line with informal principles of self-organisation.
