Abstract:
With profit contracts make up a considerable part of the life insurance market in many important industrialised countries. Due to their complex structure including the guaranteed benefit and embedded options the fair price of these contracts is more difficult to calculate than the fair price of conventional contracts. This thesis is about four different Lévy-process based market-models: the Black-Scholes-model, the Merton-process-model, the variance-gamma-process-model and the normal-inverse-Gauss-process-model. A closed analytical formula for the price of the guaranteed benefit under these models is developed in this paper. This and the other components of the insurance contract are also computed with Monte Carlo simulation.
