Abstract:
In der vorliegenden Master`s Thesis sollen Zusammenhänge von Mitarbeiterzufriedenheit und interkultureller Kompetenz untersucht und deren Relevanz in international agierenden Unternehmen beleuchtet werden. Mitarbeiterzufriedenheit ist vielfach erforscht und untersucht, doch durch Globalisierung und weltweite Vernetzungen ist es interessant, Mitarbeiterzufriedenheit auch im Kontext einer interkulturellen Kompetenz in international organisierten Unternehmen zu beleuchten. Die Ausgangsfrage lautet daher: Welchen Einfluss hat interkulturelle Kompetenz auf die Mitarbeiterzufriedenheit in international tätigen Firmenorganisationen? Ziel der Arbeit ist, den Einfluss und die Bedeutung gelebter interkultureller Kompetenz auf die Mitarbeiterzufriedenheit in global agierenden Firmenorganisationen methodisch zu untersuchen. Es wurde ein Fragebogen aus zwei standardisierten Fragebögen entworfen und in drei international tätigen Firmen in Österreich an 120 (N=120) Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeiter verteilt. Die Rücklaufquote belief sich auf 92 Personen (n=92), also 76%. Zwei Unternehmen haben ihren Firmensitz in Wien und eine Firma in der Steiermark. Die Ergebnisse der Untersuchung zeigen, dass interkulturelle Kompetenz ein wichtiger Aspekt von Mitarbeiterzufriedenheit in Unternehmen ist und dass sich Unternehmen vermehrt der Thematik widmen sollten, da sich Firmenerfolge von der Qualität interkultureller Kompetenz und der Zufriedenheit ihrer Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeiter ableiten lassen.

The present Masters Thesis investigates the correlation between employee satisfaction and intercultural competence and aspires to enlighten their relevance for companies that have international operations. There has been various research and investigation about employee satisfaction; nevertheless, due to globalization and worldwide networking it stays still interesting and attractive to enlighten the employee satisfaction in a context of intercultural competence in companies with international operations. Therefore the initial question rises: What is the influence of intercultural competence on employee satisfaction in international operating companies? The aim of this thesis is to investigate methodically the correlation and the importance of the intercultural competence on employee satisfaction in globally operating companies. For this purpose, employees of two internationally operating companies in Austria were questioned using a survey created from two standardized surveys. The survey was distributed to in total 120 (N=120) employees. Rate of return was 76%, in other words there were 92 (n=92) attendees. Two of three companies are located in Vienna and the other one is located in Styria. The results of the investigation illustrate that the intercultural competence is an important aspect of employee satisfaction in companies and that companies should focus on this topic, due to the fact that the company success derives from the quality of intercultural competence and the employee satisfaction.
