The present work deals with an architectural vision of the future in New York City. The initial situation is that the city is partially submerged due to the sea level rise caused by global warming. Because of the high water level, the skyscrapers in Manhattans Business District are empty. The aim of the architectural measures is to give the still valuable vacant buildings an effective use adapted to the new conditions and to create a new kind of connection between the existing buildings. During the experiment, a largely closed energy cycle will be created, along with local food production, which is to be achieved by transforming the existing buildings into a vertical farm. Both formally and functionally, the new building represents an antithesis to the existing buildings: the tensile net construction, which is attached to the formally and constructively austere steel skeleton structures, is reminiscent of spider webs, and has an organic framework. A constructive challenge here is to transfer the resulting loads through the steel skeleton of the existing buildings and to construct the new building as a suspended, prestressed cable net construction with a closed interior space under the net. One of the most important efforts is to create qualitative spaces instead of just producing square metres: the new building contains large green spaces and adaptable spaces that offer users a kind of free playground where various activities can take place, such as education, temporary living,
