Abstract:
After a short introduction into the basics of non-commutative field theories, we investigate in particular non-commutative Yang-Mills theories. In the first part, we study UV/IR mixing effects coming from the non-planar sector of the theory. Their impact on renormalizability, the beta-function, and the dispersion relation is considered. In the second part, we review the construction of non-commutative instantons and pass to a study of the instanton-induced vacuum energy of non-commutative Yang-Mills theories. We show that non-commutative quantum fluctuations blow the classical finite size of the instanton up to infinity.
