Spirituelle Identität : Architektur als Schwelle zur Transzendenz

Abstract

Religion und Kultur sind seit jeher fest miteinander verbunden. Geweihte Orte prägen unsere Mitte und sind gebaute Zeichen kultureller Entwicklung und deren Identität. Wir leben in einer Zeit, in der die Gesellschaft stark von der Säkularisierung geprägt ist und in der es eine gewisse Scheu gegenüber der Glaubensbekennung gibt. Wie sollen sich Orte des Glaubens und der Stille heutzutage - vor allem bei der Entstehung von neuem Lebensraum ausformulieren? Sie werden zwar bei der Planung berücksichtigt, aber ihnen wird nicht mehr diese überragende Bedeutung zu teile, die sie hatten, als noch die Kirche im Zentrum des Weltbildes gestanden ist. Heute steht der Mensch und die Gemeinde im Mittelpunkt und somit dessen Bedürfnisse. Das seelische Bedürfnis ist Teil davon und somit nicht zu vernachlässigen. So wie der Mensch die Sprache braucht, um seinen Gedanken Ausdruck zu verleihen, so braucht er die Religion, um seine Spiritualität zu entfalten. Die Architektur soll Raum schaffen, wo eine gemeinsame Glaubensbekennung erfolgen kann. Architektur als Schwelle zur Transzendenz soll spirituelle Identität in unserem Umfeld schaffen. In Form von zehn Gedanken erfolgt eine Auseinandersetzung mit Architektur, Theologie und dem Dazwischen. Begleitet werden diese Gedanken von einem Entwurfsprozess, der aus den einzelnen Thematiken schöpfen soll. Entstehen soll eine Kapelle, die der katholischen Glaubensgemeinschaft in der Seestadt Aspern eine Identität verschafft. Zu dem soll sie ein sichtbares Zeichen für Akzeptanz und Frieden sein.

Religion and culture have always been firmly connected. Consecrated places shape our midst and are built signs of cultural development and identity. We live at a time when society is strongly marked by secularization and where there is a certain amount of shyness towards the confession of faith. How should places of faith and silence formulate themselves today, especially in the emergence of a new living space? They are considered into the process of planning, but they no longer share this supreme significance, where the church was at the heart of the world view. Today, people and their communities are the focus of attention and their needs. The psychological need is a part of it and cannot be ignored. Just as people need language to express their thoughts, so they need religion to develop their spirituality. Therefore architecture should create the space where a common denomination of faith can take place. Architecture, as a threshold to transcendence, is supposed to create spiritual identity in our environment. Ten thoughts deal with architecture, theology and the in-between. These thoughts are accompanied by a design process that draws on the individual themes. A chapel is to be built in the Seestadt Aspern, which will give the Catholic religious community an identity. In addition, it should be a visible sign of acceptance and peace.
