Gergeti Trinity Church in the Georgian region of Mzcheta-Mtianeti is situated at an altitude of 2170 m above sea level in the surroundings of the small town of Stepantsminda and was made accessible in 1988 by the construction of a cable car. It was removed later, however, as the population considered the sanctity of this place endangered. Nowadays, arriving tourists are taken to this regionally characteristic cross-dome church with off-road vehicle. Thereby an unsurfaced car park arose next to the church, which raises the question of desecration again. By means of an alternative transportation concept, the sacred situation should be dealt with more sensitively.
