Abstract:

The present work was developed as part of a research project that deals with the development of a model-based, predictive control for biomass combustion. The application of this concept should significantly increase the efficiency and flexibility of biomass combustion plants. Due to the decoupling property of predictive controllers, it is possible to drive the system closer to the power limit and operate much more flexibly. The basis for the development and implementation of the control concept is the modeling of the biomass firing. The aim of the development work with regard to modeling is the provision of an adapted dynamic model for the description of biomass combustion in the grate firing. Adapted means that, on the one hand, that the model is sufficiently accurate, but on the other hand, it is kept so simple that it can be used as the basis for the development of a model-based, predictive control. Therefore the model has to be created in a corresponding programming environment (MathLab / Simulink or Dymola).
