This master thesis explores the question, wether and how biomethane used as truck fuel can be a potential utilization strategy for the Austrian biogas industry. One the basis of a specific truck type, which exists in a Diesel as well as natural gas variant, analyzes in terms of technical, energetic, ecological and economic aspects are carried out. At the infrastructure level, a natural gas respectively biomethane filling station is examined according to the same criteria. This gas filling station should be adapted in size and quantity to the needs and capacities of the Austrian biogas industry. The objective of investigating the market for biomethane as a truck fuel is, on the one hand, to prepare the biogas industry for this new path of utilization and, on the other hand, - at a higher level - to sustainably support the achievement of the Austrian climate targets in the transportation sector.
