This diploma thesis is concerned with introducing a method, based on spectroscopic and statistical tools, enabling the user to identify counterfeit products. The prototype is derived from published literature and commercial spectroscopic systems. The collection of test series and their analysis is part of this work. Correct funcionality of the device is shown using a color fan deck. Depending on the color gamut distinct intensity maxima are found. A method for classification is derived using data collected by measuring unprinted areas on medicine packagings. Using this method, more than 99 % of packages not belonging to the group can be detected.
