Chapters 2 and 3 display the fundamentals of the thesis. Special attention is given to the materials used, such as bitumen, asphalt and aggregates. The literature research outlines the composition, the characteristics, the production, the application and the type of bitumen in all its aspects. This is followed by a brief overview of the features and the structure of asphalt. These chapters are concluded with a brief description of the asphalts components. Furthermore, the different test methods which have been applied are discussed. There are two different tests, the filler and the asphalt mastix test. The filler tests include dry screening and density determination. These tests are described in detail in chapter 5. The asphalt mastic tests include the ring and bell test as well as fatigue tests in the dynamic shear rheometer.^ ^The ring and ball test investigates the impact of the fillers on the increase in stiffness of the bitumen/filler aggregate mixture in relation to the different fillers. During asphalt production filler is always added to bitumen in a certain mass-related quantity. Moreover, the ratio of mass-percent to volume-percentage fraction fillers, in which the transition from the linear to the exponential course of the softening temperature takes place, is classified using the ring and ball test. Then, the change in stiffness is investigated with the addition of hydrated lime. More and more frequently transport infrastructure can be observed to suffer from structural damage such as loss aggregates very early in its life cycle. This seems to occur without any unusual climatic conditions or traffic loads. Experts attribute this damage to a lack of use of the asphalt mastix.^ In order to investigate the utilization of mastix, the fatigue strength of mastix was investigated in various compositions and test parameters such as grain size, temperature influence, addition of hydrate lime and water storage. Chapter 5 explains the methods used and their application in the DSR, with all their features for examining the different test parameters. In chapter 6, the results of the individual tests are evaluated and interpreted separately for each individual examination. For comparative purposes, examinations from previous diploma theses are used The final chapter 7 contains a full summary and a short summary of the findings of this thesis.
