The aim of the project is the evaluation of a software solution within the framework of ¿Industrie 4.0¿ in the milling unit of Welser Profile GmbH, which can be used to reduce the search time of tools, as well as the waiting and set-up time. In addition, networking with the central database ERP makes digital data exchange possible and ultimately increases productivity. This also achieves the reduction of off-time, the standardization of tools and the increased flexibility of production cells. Standardization makes workflows more efficient and transparent. The tool management system is used as a software solution and supports production by networking MES as well as ERP and CAD / CAM systems and networking and integrating the systems and machines or the individual systems with each other, in order to increase productivity with decreasing setup time and auxiliary process time. In addition, storage costs and tool costs are reduced and machine stoppage is avoided, while the process is more reliable and product quality is ensured. At the outset, the actual state was recorded and analyzed, and subsequently a target state was defined for relevant units. In consideration of the target state, the requirements were recorded and a requirement catalog was created to evaluate providers of software solutions.
