The topic of the thesis is the motive power depot of the train station at Bolzano. The depot for locomotives was built at the end of the 1930s in the course of the transformation and enlargement works of the railway station. During the World War II the depot was damaged and after 1947 it was brought into operation again. At the second half of the 90s the building lost its importance and wasn't used anymore for the original function but serves as a temporary warehouse. The thesis aims to investigate the architecural history of the building and the analysis of the historical development of the entire station area. An important aspect is the examination of the building and the comarison with other depot for locomotives. In consideration of the last urban concepts of the railway area of Bolzano, I will develope a design projekt for a new use and reactivation of the disused depot.
