The scope of the following work contains the calculation and design of an Absorption Chiller. The size of the machine is realized in Laboratory scale, as it is supposed to serve for teaching purposes and as a demonstrative device. For a working fluid, Water/Lihiumbromide was chosen, as it has no significant toxic effects on humans, compared to ammonia, and the aspect that no devices in this size are currently available, this adds an extra incentive. For the thermodynamic computation, the software EES-Engineering Equation Solver by the company F-Chart Software, LLC was used, which contains ther- modynamic property libraries for a wide range of fluids. As a restrictive condition for the design the heat input was set to 2 kW and the temperature of the hot water to 100 C. As further conditions, the machine should provide sufficient means for an insight to the working parts, a range of measuring devices to enable reasonable exercises for students, and a production extensive design. The design was realized in the 2D/3D-CAD-Software Solid Edge by the Company Siemens Industry Software GmbH.
