Abstract:

The solar thermal support of fossil power plants is one option to reduce atmospheric greenhouse gas emissions of fossil fueled power plants. Thus a wide-scale implementation of this technology may help to limit human induced global warming and its negative consequences being expected. The focus of this investigation is turned on the development of a retrofit concept for an existing coal or gas fired power station. A simulation model of the power station is created by the power station simulation program (Ebsilon Professional 12.0) for the tests. A detailed analysis of all power plant models forms the basis for the efficiency analysis of the optimal power plant model. The cost-effectiveness analysis is carried out by comparing the electricity production costs of the hybrid system with the pure fossil power stations.
