Die vorliegende Arbeit befasst sich mit der Entwicklung und dem Entwurf eines Bergmuseums für die Geschichte der Bergrettung am sehr gut, mittels Seilbahn erschlossenen Standort nahe der Bergstation Hafelekar, auf rund 2300 Meter Seehöhe oberhalb von Innsbruck, Österreich. Im ersten Teil der Arbeit wird auf die Geschichte des Bergsports und die Entwicklung des Bergrettungswesens kurz eingegangen. Die damit einhergehende Architektur am Berg wird kurz beleuchtet um einen Überblick, über alpine Bautraditionen zu vermitteln. Reinhold Messner hat Teile dieser Entwicklungsgeschichte bereits in seinen sechs Bergmuseen wertvoll inszeniert, wobei auf alle Standorte kurz eingegangen wird. Das Entwurfskonzept stützt sich auf Abhandlungen über Wege- und Erschießungsformen bis hin zur Verwendung des Aushubmaterials und den Herstellungsprozess für die Ortsbetonerzeugung, um Transportwege zu optimieren und den ökologischen Fußabdruck zu reduzieren. Formal entwickelt sich das Gebäude aus einer Schneewechte, die die Transformation hin zum Museum bewältigt. Durch eine Symbiose aus dem verwendeten Wettersteinkalk, der verarbeitet aus Beton das Gebäude formt und der formalen Einbindung in das raue Landschaftsbild, gelingt diesem Konzept eine völlige Integration des Museums, mit dem Berg und der Natur.

The present work deals with the development and design of a mountain museum with a focus on the history of mountain rescue. The museum is located on a spot, which is easily accessible through the existing cabel car station, the so-called Bergstation Hafelekar at 2300 meters above sealevel, in Innsbruck, Austria. The first part of this thesis reflects on the history of mountaineering and the montain rescue service. The correlating architectural development is additionally outlined to give an overview of alpine building traditions. Reinhold Messner paid tribute to parts of this history in his six mountain museums, therefore every location is presented briefly. The conceptual design is based on route guidance and accessability as well as the use of the excavation and the process of making concrete in order to decrease transportation and reduce the ecological footprint. Formal aspects of the building itself are developed out of a snowdrift and transformed into a museum. Through the symbiosis of the used limestone, which now serves as the core building material and its formal embeddedness into the ruff landscape, the concept achieves a complete integration of museum, mountain and nature.
