My thesis is dealing with a granary built in the 17th century, which is protected as an historic monument. It is situated in the centre of Mönchhof, a small village in the Seewinkel, a landscape in northern Burgenland. Then part of the Kingdom of Hungary, the region was over centuries a highly contested border area. For a long time the granary was in the possession of Stift Heiligenkreuz and is now owned by the municipality of Mönchhof. Due to its location and its spatial configuration, it offers multiple opportunities for the local community, which are hardly noticed yet. Developing a rehabilitation and utilization plan, the historic granary is set in new context - it should become a place for lively and modern village life.
