This thesis includes a literature review of bounded block pavement constructions. First, the basics and the possibilities of block pavement placement, as well as the various types of constructions are considered. Furthermore, the regulations in different countries Austria, Germany and Switzerland are examined. The bound block pavement design needs a specific approach. Further, the bound block pavement construction is described in detail. There are given the advantages and disadvantages of this method, as well as the pavement design and the used materials. Described are the production principles of different layers and some peculiarities in the execution of the road construction such as expansion joints. In this context, the requirements for this expansion joints are described. In this work it will be given an analysis of the currently existing mortar types for pavement constructions on the Austrian market. The technical characteristics and the instructions of these products from different manufactures will be described and compared.
