The TRIGA MK II nuclear research reactor of the Institute of Atomic and Subatomic Physics in Vienna, operates with four neutron beam tubes. At one of These beam lines, a new shielding facility is planned, to allow experiments usage of a White neutron beam of the reactor at full power. The design of this facility, from a radiation protection point of view, is topic of this thesis. The institute requests a 6 cmx 6 cm beam cross section, which is unusally large, and therefore is a big challenge for the radiation protection. Additionally the facility will be limited in size due to the available space around the reactor and the bearing capacity of the floor of 5 t/m^2. The simulation of the radiation shielding is done with MCNP (Monte Carlo N-Particle Transport Code), developed by Los Alamos National Laboratory. Crucial parts of the shielding will be analyzed in detail and a concluding evaluation of the radiation levels, dose rates, inside and outside of thefacility, as well as the expected neutron flux is given.
