This master thesis deals with the design of a superstructure above the railway tracks next to the train station Westbahnhof in Vienna. For the purpose of inner-city redensification a new district located above the railway tracks is being developed, which connects the two separated areas of the 15th district. This new developmental area is organized through a multi-level walkway system which reorganizes public space and therefore gives new possibilities of perception of urban space. The vertical organization of private or public transport as well as pedestrian streets allows quick access to different functions such as living, work, business, gastronomy, education, art and culture. An urban layout, showing the different construction sites as well as their functions and connections on the various levels of the new city area, is defined in this master thesis. Part of the superstructure is shown on a larger scale. This design mainly deals with the issue of housing and shows different layout plans for flats with their own city-yard or loggia despite being located in a densely populated area.
