This thesis examines how architects are presented in Blockbusters. 25 films and televisions series were selected, out of a list of 108 movies and sitcoms where fictitious architects take part. The general criterias for this selection were the date of publication, the state of production and the gender of the architects. The representations of these architects were examined, similarities and differences were scanned and possible causes described. By recognizable congruences, different architect-types were worked out and their characteristics definded. Furthermore, the different filmcharacters are classified as the respective architect-type. In addition, the representations were compared in terms of their origin , gender and between movies and sitcoms. General differences and similarities with the reality were analyzed and explored for their consequences. Finally, the most obvious characteristics of the architects were summarized to recognise how architects are experienced and what the public is expecting. Furthermore it reflects how architects can deal with the expectations and what they can learn from it.
