The entire dormitory building consists of two floors. A central ramp-hallway consists of alternating on each floor in height offsetted horizontal planes, each connected by diagonal elements (ramps). The students have the opportunity to effortlessly get to their room with their bicycles. The whole building body represents a spiral segment, that begins from the ground plane and spirals in height, finishing on top of its initial starting point (entrance area). These two points, the start and end of the spiral, are connected through an indoor stairway. Two more stairways connect the two floors and allow direct access from the common areas to the courtyard and street. The over both floors extending ramp-hallway widens towards the top.The ramp-hallway on the second floor is divided in two parts, left and right, connected in-between with bridge-like horizontal planes and hammock like safety net. This allows daylight to fully illuminate both floors of the hallway. With this structure the ramp-hallway transforms itself into a common area throughout the whole building where the students can come together, sit, lie, talk, read, party and much more. The student rooms on both floors are single bedrooms, each equipped with a toilet and a bathroom. They are placed in a staggered pattern on both left and right side of the ramp-hallway. This creates a safe space in front of each room from oncoming bicycles inside the hallway. The same staggered pattern extends on the outside hull of the building as well, allowing outside view in to two directions. The wall partitions between rooms can be opened, thus combining 2 or more rooms into 1 space. Beside the ramp-hallway common area, there are 3 more common areas, expanding in height through both floors, each equipped with an additional ramp that connects both floors. At the highest point of the dormitory (above the entrance) is a daylight-flooded swimming pool, which acts as an additional common area. Overall, the dormitory offers space for up to 106 students, with 6 communal kitchens (with integrated laundry machines), two fitness rooms and a swimming pool. Construction and design of the dormitory thus promote the communication and cooperation among its residents.
