The diploma thesis "boarding-house for custody-concerned juveniles" deals with challenges imposed on the Austrian juvenile law enforcement; theoretically and in practice, by explaining specific acts of law, statistics and interviews with experts of this field of knowledge. Via conversations with "insiders" it became clear that the Austrian youth-custody system made an "U-turn" in this realm. The "task force",which was implemented after several cases of juvenile abuse in the Viennese jailhouse "Justizanstalt Josefstadt", confirms the pressing need of an adequate alternative. Triggered by that, the design of a "boardinghouse",with a cutting-edge custody-prevention concept was attained, respecting a building, that already came into play as a juvenile jailhouse, theformer Viennese "K+K Garnisonsgerichtsgebäude". The concept focuses on the creation of a reasonable and social-economic based design of an alternative custody for juvenile perpetrators.
