Wood lightweight concrete is a composite material made of cement, wood chips, water and mineralized additives, from which plate-shaped components are produced. In the product groups such as cladding concrete blocks or system components, the material in Austria is well known, the greater range of prefabricated panels for facades and interior, however, is not widespread. The economic studies relates to manufacturing processes, areas of application, processing facilities, transportation, material prices and disposal of prefabricated wooden lightweight concrete panels. References and application details from different vendors show how the plates are used and processed. The possibilities for this environment friendly, easy to process, powerful and customizable material are examined and critically contemplated in comparison to other building materials. It could be found that wood lightweight concrete for exposed uses as for substructures is a powerful and cost-effective alternative, which is not yet at the end of its possibilities.
