The research project "Weitgespannte Flachdeckensysteme in Holzspan-beton-Verbundbauweise" conducted at the ITI of the Technical University of Vienna, examines the load-bearing behavior as well as the deformation behavior of a sandwich-system of wood,wood-lightweight-concrete and concrete. The specific aim of this project is to use the material "wood-lightweight-concrete" for a load-bearing flat slab system. Therefore, wood-lightweight-concrete is used as the intermediate layer of a sandwich cross-section, whereby wood functions as tension layer and concrete functions as pressure layer. The initial small-scale studies are divided into three parts. The first part discusses mechanical fasteners (screws), which have been tested for the use of the system "woodlightweight-concrete-composite". In addition, various small samples (glue test series) with different adhesive systems are investigated by using materials with bond tensile strength testing. The main part of this work experimentally examines four bulk samples (component testing) with the dimensions of l = 740 cm, b = 50 cm, h = 32.8 cm. The used static system was a four-point bending test. Furthermore, this section explains the production of the component and the experimental procedure to then describe the measuring instruments as well as their positioning. The type of failure of the individual component tests is explained and a comparison of the force-displacement curves is presented. This section concludes with a description of the conducted shear tests, which give insight into the interaction of the fastener systems. The next part discusses the transformation of a joint stiffness cf with the gamma-method and a comparison of the calculated values of the four component tests. Moreover, a calculation example is provided in order to propose a proof schematic for the sandwich component. Finally, the project encloses a cost analysis and an economic comparison with similar standard ceiling systems.
