The goal of this thesis is the acquisition of information to describe the current situation and the definition of the requirements in respect to the introduction of an ERP-system at an enterprise called Vasko + Partner. Vasko + Partner was established in 1976 for civil engineering surface at Vienna. Today, V+P offers solutions in all fields of surface construction. Initially, an evaluation of different methodic procedures for rethinking business processes within a company is effected by literary research. Based on this research, it was decided to proceed via business process reengineering. This method enables rethinking of the current processes and gradually leads to a redesign of the core processes by using the potential of information technology. Following steps concerning Business Process Reengineering are considered: BPR step 1: Communication of the necessary changes BPR step 2: Identification of the core processes BPR step 3: Selection of the core processes that have the highest need for change BPR step 4: Analysis to unterstand processes BPRstep 5: Collect ideas for redesign BPR step 6: Development of concept using the potential of information technology In a final step, the procedure of the utility analysis is used by means of a rating matrix. Its function will be used to select the product during the tender process by rating the alternative systems. The tendering phase is not part of this thesis.
