The objective of the TransitBuddy project is to develop an automatic guided vehicle for the operation at public traffic hubs. The vehicle shall help mobility impaired people with the transport of their luggage, guide the users through the building and provide important information. Regarding the infrastructural circumstances of highly frequented, public spaces the project team is doing research on the different aspects of this new application of autonomous vehicles. The Institute of Engineering Design and Logistics Engineering is in charge of developing an appropriate technical construction. Beginning with an overview of autonomous vehicles and the theoretical description of the product development process, the different stages of the development are described and the results are presented.
