The International Communication Industry is currently in a transformation phase. System Integrators are competing more and more with new hosted communication technologies like Google Voice, Skype and different open source solutions. The main asset of system integrators is the flexibility in consulting their customers, the service and the specialization in some topics like Unified Messaging, Contact Centre or IP-Telephony. During the last years providers and suppliers increased their knowledge on those topics and in addition the technology of IP (Internet Protocol) enables a lot of new opportunities to reach the market with new cheap centralized communication services. The fundament of the thesis is an intensive literature research which shows the basic principles of innovation management and the need to build a sustainable business for System Integrators. In this term different sources of innovation, innovation approaches and the methodology of innovations will be outlined. The second part of this thesis is an empirical explorative analysis which describes how the process of innovation is currently executed in different industries and who supports innovations within an organization. The study also shows a comparison to the current innovation approach of system integrators on the example of NextiraOne Austria. As a result some possible generic innovation models and an innovation strategy is developed to show the need of Innovation Management within the organization. Furthermore the current support of the management, the innovativeness of the employees and the existing uncoordinated approach to find Innovations will be emphasized. The developed innovation strategy will show a way to generate innovative value for the future business of NextiraOne Austria by using existing innovation approaches from different Industries.
