The main goal of the thesis is to indentify and analyse the main problems linked to the performance management the production plants of global automotive companies in Central Europe face, and to propose measures that could, when correctly implemented, eliminate them. The theoretical part starts with a short description of the automotive industry in the region of Central Europe and points to its importance for each country and describes the best practices in the field of managerial and leadership approach. It defines some common mistakes managers and leaders make. Performance management, as a science and a set of tools, is described, particularly goal setting and goal evaluation. The practical part of the Thesis analyses the actual situation in automotive companies in Central Europe in the area of performance management. Using analytical tools the potential root causes of the problems are identified and measures to avoid them developed. Each supplier should introduce, or check the correct implementation of the proposed measures in order to elimimate the most important problems. Those mesures have more preventative character and their correct implementation has longterm effects.
