This current diploma thesis deals with the design of several variants of a planned pumped storage power plant Seekar in Austria. An optimized variante was proposed and carried out in detail. This suggested design contains hydraulic economic and static calculations for the power conduit. The detailed project is presented in a draft compendium. At the begin of the thesis the energetic situation in Austria, Germany, Bulgaria and a number of other worldwide countries has been analyzed.
The role of the pumped storage within the European energy grid has been described as well.
