The building of the elementary school in Ada Christen Gasse in the 10th district of vienna was built in the late 60ies and does note equate the technical and pedagogical standards of nowadays anymore. Based on the fact, that the demand of all-day care and full-time schools for children is constantly rising, the possibilities for an adaption combined with an annex or a new school-building will be reviewed. Because of the long-term efficiency and the benefit to build the school based on actual knowledge and requirements, the school is planned as a new building. The long structure leans on the property boundary along Franz-Koci-Straße and reveals a valuable free space in the school garden. The main entrance of the school is located at the crossing of Ada Christen- Gasse and Franz-Koci-Straße and generates an urban square with them. From this point the occupants enter the building, which shows a process from public space, the administration area or the meeting room, across half private, the faculty room and the gym, to the private space, the learning-rooms. The school is build as a timber-frame construction and allows the adaption of the learning space. With KLHwalls the space can be separated in conventual classrooms or also can be used as an open space learning area and therefore can be adjusted on the changing requirements The big gym, an exercise and playing room and the versatile school garden shall stimulate the children to move themselves and offer a balance to the mostly sitting activities in school. Several special rooms, a library, connecting group rooms and a terrace are completing the range.
