This thesis focuses on renovating traditional Viennese housing structures, which were built during the so-called -Gruenderzeit- period from 1848 to 1914. The aim is to create a renovation compendium, which allows the re-usage of damaged and idle housings of the mentioned time frame. Historical influences, increasing population, social structures, as well as the industrialization will be analyzed, as they all refer to the evolution of the 'Gruenderzeit' housings. Historical materials and production methods follow these. Based on popular damage symptoms, the mentioned renovation compendium will be elaborated.
