Abstract (English)

Forecasts talk of 50 billion devices with Internet connection for the year 2020. Some have influence and benefits for Facility Management. The Internet of Things (IoT) makes buildings smart and helps to manage them better, for example through "predictable maintenance" or the usage-dependent control of the building management system. It is necessary not only to collect data, but also to make them usable intelligently. The benefits of using it in facility management and the importance of using standards are highlighted in the work. This results in savings potential for costs and resources. Which is shown in some practical examples. This results in the importance of using IoT as well as potential criticisms that need to be considered.
