Moser, M. (2015).

Vienna is currently the fastest growing German-speaking metropolis. The Donaufeld, one of the last large, contiguous and centrally-located land reserves of Vienna, is a declared area of interest of the Vienna urban development plan and the main topic of this work. The aim is to develop a new area of the city that joins the qualities of a densely-built urban area with the expansive, abutting natural landscape. In the present study a building concept and strategy is developed, based on the concept of mobility and the urban density suggested by the City of Vienna's "Leitbild Donaufeld". These qualities and objectives are accomplished through the realization of a core neighborhood, with eight apartment buildings and a multifunctional neighborhood center. The results demonstrate that 3-4 story buildings provide a high level of architectural and typological diversity, and are favored by the city's urban density requirements. This results in an extremely space-maximizing and compact building form.
