The Rare Earth Elements are gaining more and more interest because they are essential for many high-technology applications and are among the critical raw materials for the European Union. One of these Elements, Neodymium, is regared as highly important to the European Union because of its main application as Neodymium-Iron-Boron alloy.<br />This special alloy is used as a strong permanent magnet in a wide range of applications, for example in hard disk drives, engines, cars, optical devices and MRTs. This thesis aims to identify the applications and quantities of Neodymium in Austria concerning recycling possibilites to avoid future bottlenecks in supply.
