dc.description.abstract

dc.description.abstract
The project area is situated in the Central Region on the coast of Ghana. On a 7000 m2 plot of land, 150 meters from the sea, a private house should be planned along with a yoga resort. The property is located about an hour southwest of the capital Accra. The surrounding areas have already been sold, but so far nothing has been developed. The vacuum between the present void and a future construction boom raises the question of a suitable first town-planning impulse. How can one plan a new city, while relying solely on marginally existing reference points? How can a privately funded initial project take future developments into consideration? The spatial planning aspect thus forms a focus of this work. With the aim of creating a socially and ecologically sustainable project, the potential of locals in Gomoa Fetteh and their expertise with regional building materials represent a central point of the project. This applies to all topics of the resort, from initial construction to management and further development. The spatial organization should make reference to the habit of the adjacent residents and thus provide adequate infrastructure for international tourists (1 to 2-week yoga retreats), weekend tourists from Accra as well as neighbors. Therefore, the "Akwaaba Yoga Resort" is meant to stand out from the rest of the resorts on the coast of Ghana and clearly represent an alternative approach in dealing with the genius loci.
