In modern office and industrial buildings there is always a high volume of installation lines. So far, these installations were placed in a suspended ceiling or a false floor system. The idea of the slab for installations is to integrate the installation lines into the slab system.
The main elements are a very thin concrete plate on the bottom which is also for the separation of the floors and a truss girder system on the top for the resisting moments and shear forces. Due to these measures the dead load can be reduced to 490-700 kg/m2 [kg/m hoch 2].
The whole construction is separated in prefabricated elements and on site concrete. The prefabricated parts are produced with dimensions, that can easily be transported by trucks and lifted with cranes.
In this Master Thesis the constructional aspects of this new slab system are analysed. For that, a point supported slab is separated into smaller panels. There are three main cases to analyse, the inner, the edge and a single panel. These are handled using individual beams with different support conditions.
In dependence of the reinforcement and the minimal concrete cover, the dimensions of the cross section can be specified.
The main diffenrence to a massive concrete floor is the increased lever arm, that allows to take up larger resisting moments. These moments are absorbed by the top chord and the concrete plate. The vertical forces must be absorbed by the diagonals of the truss girders.
In general the smaller cross sections are limited in the resisting moments and the larger cross sections cannot absorb the increasing shear force any more.
As expected the inner field can reach the largest span due to the dispersed internal forces, followed by the edge field.
The special case of the single field produces, in comparison with the inner panel, small maximum spans. In this case, cantilever arms can help to increase the maximum span nearly to the values of the other cases.
The results of these analyses are plotted in a chart, where different cross sections are associated with executable spans.
Out of this diagram the necessary cross section can be directly picked out in dependence of the support conditions and the span width.
